Kistler O'Brien Fire Protection was founded in 1933 for the purpose of selling and servicing portable fire extinguishers. As fire protection technology improved over the years, Kistler O'Brien through acquisition and internal development, added new product offerings and capabilities to its mix. Kistler O'Brien was one of the early distributors in providing fire suppression systems for commercial cooking appliances and, later became one of the first installing distributors of Halon 1301 fire suppression systems.

Today, Kistler O'Brien provides total capabilities in fire alarm and detection systems, as well as many type of fire suppression systems including FM-200, Inergen, CO2, and Foam.
